Disclosure: We build Rynex, including its free WordPress plugin. Install counts, ratings and prices below come from WordPress.org listings and vendor pricing pages, checked on August 14, 2026, with links so you can verify.
Search "AI chatbot" on WordPress.org and you'll find plenty of plugins that put a chat bubble on a WooCommerce store. Almost none of them know it's a store. The difference sounds subtle and isn't: a Woo-aware assistant reads your catalog, recommends actual products with prices and variants, adds them to the cart, and answers "where is my order?" from real order data. A Woo-blind chatbot answers questions about your shipping policy from scraped pages — useful, but it will never sell anything.
Here's the entire 2026 WordPress landscape sorted by that one question.

The landscape in one sentence: the two biggest names touch WooCommerce from the wrong side for selling — AI Engine (100k installs) manages your store for you in the admin, Tidio (70k) grew out of live support — which leaves the shopper-facing "understands the catalog, fills the cart, attributes the revenue" lane surprisingly open: WPBot and WoowBot (about 6k installs combined), and us.
The Woo-Aware Four
1. Rynex — Shopping Agent With Revenue Attribution
Rynex (that's us) installs from a free WordPress plugin, pairs with your store in a couple of clicks, and puts a selling-first AI on the storefront: live catalog awareness, product recommendations, variant-aware add-to-cart, order-status answers, and store-policy questions from a knowledge base. It also works on plain WordPress sites without WooCommerce — the assistant answers from your content, and you can switch on commerce mode later.
Two things the others in this table don't do: conversations are attributed to orders (the dashboard shows assistant-influenced revenue per journey, not chat counts), and an optional GEO layer tracks how often AI assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity recommend your store. No API keys to bring: the AI is included. Free plan: 100 conversations/month; paid from $39/month with no mid-month cutoffs. Honest limits: the plugin is new (2026) with a small review base, and there are no human live-chat seats — it's an assistant, not a helpdesk.
2. Tidio (Lyro) — the Established Suite, Shopify-First Heart
Tidio is the biggest genuinely Woo-aware option (70k+ installs, 4.7 across 396 reviews): Lyro sees the visitor's cart, recommends products as cards with add-to-cart, runs abandoned-cart campaigns, and answers order questions. It's a mature live-chat suite first — great if you want human agents in the loop. Two cautions: pricing is measured on three separate meters (billable conversations, Lyro conversations, Flows visitors — free tier includes just 50 Lyro conversations as a one-time allowance, then Lyro from $32.50/month), and its deepest "native actions" ship Shopify-first, with WooCommerce a step behind.
3. WPBot — the WordPress-Native Veteran
WPBot by QuantumCloud (5k+ installs, 4.7/123, actively updated) is the classic WP-native chatbot that grew real WooCommerce features: in-chat catalog browsing, an in-widget cart, order status, abandoned-cart recovery. The WooCommerce module lives in the Professional tier ($99/year — there are also lifetime licenses), and AI modes are bring-your-own-OpenAI-key, so you manage API billing separately. If you want a self-hosted, pay-once tool and don't mind key management, this is the one.
4. WoowBot — the Woo-Only Specialist
WoowBot, WPBot's sibling, is the only plugin in the directory dedicated purely to WooCommerce (1k+ installs, 4.8/19): product search and recommendation in chat, add-to-cart, order tracking in Pro. Smaller community, same BYO-key model. A focused, inexpensive pick for small catalogs.
Excellent Plugins Doing a Different Job
AI Engine — the 100k-Install Admin Powerhouse
AI Engine is the category's install leader (100k+, 4.9 across 858 reviews) and deserves it — multi-provider AI toolbox, chatbots, and Pro-tier MCP tools that let AI manage WooCommerce products, orders and stock. That's the admin side. It doesn't ship a shopper-facing sales assistant with recommendations and cart actions; you could assemble one with function calling, but you'd be building, not installing. Many stores run AI Engine for operations and a dedicated selling assistant on the storefront — they don't compete.
AI Puffer (Formerly AI Power) — Content, Not Conversations
AI Puffer (10k+, 4.6/165) uses WooCommerce data to bulk-generate product descriptions, titles and SEO copy from $9.99/month, BYO-key. Useful for catalog content; not a shopper-facing assistant.
The Embed-Only Tier
Chatbase's WP plugin (5k+ installs) is a plain embed of its horizontal SaaS — capable platform, but the plugin sits at 3.4 stars, hadn't been updated for about a year as of August 2026, and has no Woo actions; WooCommerce isn't mentioned on its pricing page at all. Botpress has no native WordPress plugin — you embed a script and build Woo integration yourself (free pay-as-you-go tier, then from $89/month plus metered AI spend). ChatBot.com's WP plugin (1k+, 3.7) connects to a platform whose e-commerce features are Shopify-centric — its WooCommerce integration page currently 404s — and the $25/user/month Essential plan includes just 10 AI resolutions a month. Kognetiks (600 active installs) is site-content-aware but has no WooCommerce integration.
How to Choose
- You want the assistant to sell and prove it: Rynex — add-to-cart plus per-journey revenue attribution, free plan to test on real traffic.
- You want human live chat with AI on top: Tidio — mature suite; budget all three meters.
- You want self-hosted, pay-once, BYO-key: WPBot Professional or WoowBot.
- You want AI to run store operations in the admin: AI Engine — and pair it with any of the above for the storefront.
FAQ
Which WordPress AI chatbots can add products to the WooCommerce cart?
Rynex, Tidio (Lyro), WPBot (Pro) and WoowBot. Everything else in the directory either links out to product pages or doesn't see the catalog at all.
Is AI Engine a WooCommerce chatbot?
It integrates with WooCommerce on the admin side (managing products and orders via MCP) — it doesn't ship a shopper-facing sales assistant. Different job; many stores run both.
Do these plugins need my own OpenAI API key?
WPBot, WoowBot, AI Engine and AI Puffer are bring-your-own-key — you manage OpenAI billing and limits. Rynex and Tidio include the AI in the subscription with no keys to manage.
Is there a free AI shopping assistant for WooCommerce?
Rynex's free plan includes 100 conversations/month with catalog awareness and add-to-cart. Tidio's free tier includes a one-time 50 Lyro conversations. WPBot and WoowBot have free versions with the Woo depth in paid tiers. You can also check what AI assistants currently say about your store with our free AI-visibility audit.
